Muzaffarabad:(Parliament Times) International Women’s Day was celebrated with full zest and zeal under the aegis of Pakistan People’s Party Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter here on Thursday.
President PPP AJK Ch. Latif Akbar, Ex- Minister Sardar Javed Ayub, Hanif Awan, Ex- Deputy Speaker AJK legislative Assembly Shaheen Kausar Dar, Sardar Mubarak Haider, Shagufta Noreen, Taqdees Gillani, Rehana Kausar, Nusrat Durrani, Gulzar Fatima, Samia Sajid and other nominal ladies of the state and large number of women from the capital city were also present on the occasion.
Ch. Latif Akbar while addressing the event, said, “We have arranged the celebrations on division level including Rawalakot and Mirpur division”. He maintained that Women’s day celebration were hosted by PPP but it was a collaborative event in which almost each and every lady representing every party, sector, color, race and religion were present. “PPP have given representation to ladies and always supported women empowerment, we will give more than 30% representation to youth and women in upcoming Municipal elections” he reiterated.
Latif Akbar added that PPP AJK is also endeavoring for the representation of women in Kashmir Council besides increase of women seats in legislative assembly.
Speaking on the occasion, central Joint Secretary PML-N AJK chapter Nusrat Durrani said that this day is dedicated for women globally, every women is an important part of our society.
She appreciated the endeavors of PPP AJK for organizing this day celebrations with massive majority.
Mrs. Samia Sajid (Central chairperson social media wing MC) said that women have equal rights around the globe but unfortunately, our women living in Indian occupied Kashmir are deprived of their basic rights and freedom. “World human rights organizations must play their role for the human rights especially for women in occupied Kashmir” she voiced.
Senior Vice President Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf AJK chapter Mrs. Taqdees Gillani, while, said that this day have a significant value worldwide as our religion Islam have given us the rights of women empowerment.
She maintained, “Hazrat Khadija (wife of Holy Prophet ‘S.A.W.W’) was the great example of women empowerment, she was a merchant of her time and our religion have given us the freedom to work and have equal rights with men. President PTI AJK women wing Gulzar Fatima said that daughter of Hazrat Ali R.A , Bibi Zainab gave us the voice when she stood bravely in Darbar (Temple) of Yazeed and addressed, and that was the turning point of Yazeed’s rule and that is the great example of women empowerment that bent a regime.
Ex- deputy Speaker AJK assembly Shaheen Kausar Dar on the occasion voiced that women participation in this event have enlightened the unparalleled women power. “Pakistan people’s party have the honor that we established first women parliamentary caucus in AJK besides other achievements for women empowerment in our tenure.”
“I want to dedicate this day to our sisters living on the other side of LOC facing Indian atrocities and brutalities on daily basis, international organizations must play their role in this regard” she added.
Secretary Information PPP AJK Sardar Javed Ayub said that this is the first historic event inaugurated on state level without any political affiliation.He maintained that Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced to celebrate this day nationwide and PPP AJK organized this event on state level. “I have witnessed the enthusiasm and passion of women on commemoration of this day and is commendable” Javed Ayub added.
Glimpses of great ladies who have served for the masses in Pakistan and around the globe were also placed in the event. Moreover, certificates of appreciation were also given to the ladies with significant achievements were distributed by the President PPP AJK at the end of the event.
