Rawalpindi: A summary regarding increase in public transportation fare has been sent to Government of Punjab.
As per media report, office bearers of Public Transport Union met Commissioner Rawalpindi and informed him about the problems facing them and also demanded increase in Public Transport fare.
Raja Muhammad Bashir, Qalander Khan, Malang Khan, Malik Zaman office bearers of union said during the meeting with Commissioner Rawalpindi that prices of petroleum products are increasing on day to day basis since last few months but no raise has been made in fares. This silence on the part of government has multiplied our miseries as we cannot afford plying our wagons on our routes as per fares fixed by the government which are comparatively far less than the growing expenses of public transport. we will go on strike if the fares are not increased, they stated. .
Commissioner told that that summary seeking increase in public transport fares has been forwarded to chief minister Punjab and the matter will be decided within a few days.
