ISLAMABAD: It has been decided in the meeting of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to include name of Pakistan in grey list in June 2018, however, media reports on inclusion of Pakistan in black list are baseless and unfounded.
“It has been decided in FATF meeting that Pakistan name be included in grey list in June 2018 . However reports about inclusion of Pakistan in blacklist are baseless and unfounded. A 3 months time has been given to Pakistan to avoid blacklist. If Pakistan does not take steps during this period then its name will be incorporated in black list”, this was said by Foreign office (FO) spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal during his weekly press briefing here Wednesday.
Evading to talk with reference to FATF he said we cannot talk on the matter of FATF. Pakistan name will be incorporated in grey list due to charges of money laundering and bankrolling terrorists. But there is no fear that Pakistan name will come in blacklist. Those countries are included in blacklist which don’t cooperate with FATF, he added. Pakistan has been given 3 times time in terms of punitive action.
It may be mentioned that it was to be decided on this proposal of US and UK in the meeting of FATF which concluded on February 23 if Pakistan should be incorporated in grey list or otherwise but Pakistan name was not there in the communiqué issued immediately after meeting. If Pakistan does not take these steps within three months then difficulties can come on its way.
He said Pakistan and US are together working to improve peace and security situation in Afghanistan. Peace in Afghanistan is possible only through talks with Taliban. Pakistan supports talks with Taliban. He stated that Indian troops are perpetrating atrocities on innocent Kashmiris in Occupied Kashmir. Indian deputy high commissioner JP Singh was summoned in foreign office and protest was made .
Regarding ban slapped by Indian Motion Picture Association on Pakistani artists he said Ban on Pakistani artists is reflection of Indian sick mentality. This is not Indian democracy. This is Indian shamocracy. He said international community should play its role on Kashmir issue. India has committed violation of ceasefire line more than 400 times during this year.
About threat from Indian army chief he said Pakistan armed forces have capability to give befitting reply to any aggression. Regarding Pakistan former ambassador Hussain Haqani he said we will act according to Supreme Court orders. Foreign office will extend every possible cooperation on this count.
