London: Kashmir Voice International (KVI) in a meeting held in London on Sunday paid glowing tributes to Mohammad Maqbool Bhat who sacrificed his life for the collective cause of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Maqbool was the idol of inspiration and epitome of courage and inner strength. His supreme sacrifice will never be forgotten who inspired the youth to pursue the freedom movement fearlessly with courage and commitment”, the KVI statement said adding that in the spirit of continued resistance, the KVI honours the death of Maqbool Bhat and the sacrifices of thousands of people young and old.
“This day marks the remembrance of the lives of our freedom fighters who laid their lives for the liberation of Motherland”, the statement said.

Referring to JKLF co-founder’s peerless contribution the KVI members during the meeting observed that Maqbool was a revolutionary thinker, a potent secular symbol of rebellion who stood with conviction and determination against the occupation of our Motherland.
“India killed this brave son of Kashmir but not his ideas and philosophy which inspired Kahmiris and thousands of Maqbools were born, our struggle became people’s movement and creed for youth”, they said.
The KVI suggested the floating of a Maqbool Foundation to provide financial assistance for the pursuit of education, to the children of those who sacrificed their lives in the freedom movement. The KVI demanded that mortal remains of Maqbool Bhat be handed over to his family in Kashmir. “Kashmir Valley diaspora in UK stand in complete solidarity with the suffering brothers in Kashmir and demand an end to the gross Human Rights Violations committed by the occupying forces”.
