BRUSSELS: Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) will hold martyrdom anniversary of two great Kashmiri martyrs Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru on Saturday, February 10, 2018.
In a statement on eve of the martyrdom days of the both martyrs, KC-EU’s Chairman Ali Raza Syed paid rich tribute to both of the sons of soil of Kashmir.
Mr Ali Raza asked Indian government to hand over remains of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru to their families for a proper burial in Kashmir.
It is important to mention that Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world observe the martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt every year on Feb 11. Butt was hanged in Tihar Jail of New Delhi on the 11th February in 1984 for his leading role in the Kashmir’s liberation struggle. He was buried in the premises of the prison. Muhammad Afzal Guru was second Kashmiri who was hanged and buried at the same Tehar prison by the Indian Authorities on Feb 9, 2013. Hanging of the Kashmiri youth Afzal Guru had been also evoked widespread condemnation by human rights organisations.
Mr Ali Raza Syed said, these two great martyrs are lights for struggle of the people of Kashmir for their right of self-determination.
He said, Indian acted inhumanely by holding bodies of the martyrs at jail. No human being and no one of the civilised societies in the world accepts such ruthless behaviour as India is doing with the Kashmiris.
Ali Raza Syed also warned that by killing people and committing crimes against the humanity in the occupied Kashmir, the India can not stop the peaceful movement of the Kashmir. The people of Kashmir are struggling for the rights of self-determination accepted under UN Security Council’s resolutions and as per a promise committed by the Indian Authorities.
He also denounced Indian atrocities against the people of Kashmir including extra judicial killings and the house arrest and detention of a number of leaders in the held valley. Chairman KC-EU demanded the world community to play its role in order to stop atrocities against the innocent and peaceful people of Kashmir.
