Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Friday sought report from Secretaries including Interior, Law, Religious Affairs, Cabinet and Chairman PEMRA regarding circulation of blasphemous material on social media and pornography during the next hearing.
The hearing was conducted in the court of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui after a petition was filed by Salman Shahid regarding broadcasting of derogatory material on social media. Secretary Information Technology Rizwan informed the court about change of FIA cyber crime Act. He told the court that changes are being made in IT Rules of Business. He told that 212 more websites have been shutdown.
The judge in his remarks said that gang of pornography was active, saying no one was safe from this gang. He said according to draft freed hand is being given to pornography in educational institutions. He said basic purpose of IT Ministry was to make Pakistan as sex free country. He observed that TV channels are playing havoc through morning shows, saying whether PEMRA is taking a nap. Why such TV channels are not banned, he posed a question?.
The court ordered the federal government to appoint Chairman PTA and Member Finance as soon as possible. The hearing of the case was adjourned till February 16.
