ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has ordered that Sindh Inspector General of Police AD Khawaja will continue on his post besides admitting for hearing Sindh government appeal plea against Sindh High Court (SHC) decision in connection with appointment of IG Sindh.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar remarked that any step from federal government in connection with appointment of IG Sindh will have no effect. The appointment of IG Police Sindh will be conditional to court’s verdict .

He further remarked “The orders of provincial and federal government pertaining to the matter have to be considered suspended.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by CJP and comprising Justices Umar Ata Bandiyal and Ijazul Ahsan took up for hearing the case on Thursday.

Counsel for Sindh government during the course of hearing of case argued that SHC has declared police act-2011 constitutional and while it gave powers to IG Sindh AD Khawaja for ordering transfer and postings in police.

CJP remarked “ SHC has given very beautiful verdict which deserves to be read for two to three times.

The counsel for Sindh government raised the objection that SHC has no powers to take suo motu notice.

CJP remarked “we have powers to take suo motu notice.

CJP stopped Advocate General Sindh (AGS) from giving arguments on rostrum.

CJP directed AGS “ you have shown your inability by giving letter to Farooq H Naik. You have no right to talk on rostrum.

Farooq H Naik, counsel for Sindh government requested the court to fix any date for hearing our appeal plea.

CJP remarked “ give the application for early hearing of the case. We will fix it for hearing.

The court restrained federal government from taking any step on the matter of appointment of IG Sindh AD Khawaja.
