ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has expressed displeasure over non filing of replies by former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and Election Commission (EC) with reference to Election Act-2017 and directed them to file reply on next hearing otherwise exparte proceedings will be initiated .

A single bench of IHC presided over by Justice Aamir Farooq on Wednesday took up for hearing a petition filed with reference to Election Act-2017.

The petitioner Ibrar Hussain appeared before the court during the hearing of the case.

The learned judge remarked no reply has been filed by the respondents so far. If no reply is filed till next hearing then exparte proceedings will be initiated .

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till January, 13.

It is pertinent to mention here that a petition challenging election act 2017 was filed in IHC making Nawaz Sharif and EC respondents. The court was prayed that a disqualified person cannot become president of the party. Therefore, the bill passed in this regard be declared illegal.
