Ankara: The Deputy Speaker of Turkey’s Parliament, Ahmet Aydin, has reaffirmed his country’s support for Pakistan over the Kashmir dispute.
Ahmet Aydin, in a meeting with Shah Ghulam Qadir, the Speaker of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, said that Turkey was closely following the hardships being faced by the people of occupied Kashmir.
He called for finding a solution to the Kashmir dispute in line with the relevant UN resolutions. “We favour reaching a solution through dialogue between Pakistan and India in line with UN resolutions in light of the legitimate demands of the Kashmiri people,” he said.
Aydin added that the Kahsmir dispute had been affecting both the welfare of the Kashmiri people and stability in the region for the last 70 years.
Shah Ghulam Qadir highlighting Turkey’s ongoing support for the Kashmiri people said, “Turkey has always backed us in our dark days.” He proposed the formation of a Turkey-Kashmir inter-parliamentary friendship group.
