Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) Standing Committee for communications in the National Assembly of Pakistan on Monday directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to complete all ongoing developmental projects in Azad Jammu and Kashmir well in time without compromising on quality of work.

NHA briefed the Committee on the Kohala-Muzaffarabad road, Islamabad-Kohala road, Muzaffarabad l-Chakothi road, Athmuqam-Sharda-Kel-Taobat road, Neelum Valley Shonter-Astore(Gilgit-Baltistan) road, Athmuqam-Sharda-Kel-Taobat road upto Neelum Valley, Proposed Neelum Valley Shonter-Astore(Gilgit-Baltistan) road projects adding that with completion of ongoing roads development projects tourism would be flourished in the area.

“Azad Jammu and Kashmir has huge potential in tourism and newly constructed roads would play a immense role in boosting tourism in the region and maximum tourists would head to the area”, NHA said while briefing the members of the Committee.

Committee was furthered told that new techniques were also introduced in construction of roads in AJ&K as in past very conventional methods were being used in the construction and this innovation would give more life and standards to the roads and people of the area as well as tourists will be benefited.

Speaking on occasion Chairman Committee Muhammad Muzamal Qureshi directed the NHA to provide good means of communications to the people of Azad Kashmir.

He said Azad Kashmir has great potential for hydel power generation and by adopting a good planning these natural resources can be used for the development of the country.
