Islamabad: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (PM AJK) Raja Farooq Haider Khan has said that State Newspapers have been playing their comprehensive role in highlighting public issues and Kashmir Freedom of Movement.

President Azad Kashmir Newspaper Society (AKNS) Amer Mehboob called on Prime Minister AJK here on Sunday.

President AKNS apprised the Prime Minister about the problems faced by newspaper industry after the implementation of PPRA rules in AJK besides increase of advertisement budget for state newspapers in Press Information Department (PID AJK). Amer Mehboob also assured the PM AJK that AKNS will be standing with the government while highlighting public issues and sternly considering the important national and state matters.

Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction on the commitment of the State newspapers despite of facing many challenges, “State Newspapers are effectively promoting the public activities and are the best source of information” he maintained.

Prime Minister on the occasion, directed the Principal Secretary and Press Secretary to submit a report regarding this in next cabinet meeting.

PM AJK reiterated that the incumbent government will increase the advertisement budget for State newspapers, adding that Prime Minister stated that government have set equal opportunities for all newspapers as Journalists are considered the important part of the society.

Prime Minister assured President AKNS that his announcement of allocating 1 percent development budget for advertisement will be processed before long, PID AJK has already been directed to make a comprehensive plan in this regard.
