Srinagar: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and world over are observing Black Day on Friday (October 27) to mark the illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by India.
The purpose to observe this day is to convey the message to the world that they reject India’s illegal occupation of their motherland and they will continue their struggle till complete freedom from Indian yoke.
The day was marked with a complete shutdown in occupied Kashmir. All shops and business establishments remained closed while traffic was off the road.
Call for the shutdown was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik and supported by other pro-freedom organizations and High Court Bar Association of the occupied territory.
It is worth mentioning here that October 27 is the darkest day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir and the Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world observe it as Black Day.
This is the day, when, in 1947, India sent its armed forces to Jammu and Kashmir and occupied it in total violation of the Indian Independence Act and Partition Plan and against the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
