Srinagar: Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has denounced the fresh house detention of the Mirwaiz and termed the action as frustration of the puppet authorities.

According to the media report, the forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the blanket ban on the movement of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and barring him from carrying out his social, religious and political activities reflected the political vengeance of the puppet rulers.

He said that the Mirwaiz was scheduled to address a seminar to pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) – the grandson of beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) – who achieved martyrdom in Karbala. However, he added, a contingent of Indian police reached the residence of the Mirwaiz and didn’t allow him to come out.

Meanwhile, the spokesman expressed serious concern over the plight of Kashmiris lodged in various jails and interrogation centres in occupied Kashmir and India stating that many prisoners had been put behind the bars without any trial and many of them had developed serious health complications in absence of proper medical aid.

He said depriving the prisoners of the basic facility of health care is a blatant violation of basic principles of humanity and also direct violation of Geneva Conventions. He said there are hundreds of prisoners whose detention orders have been quashed by various courts but are still lodged in jails.

The spokesman urged all the international human rights organizations including International Committee of Red Cross and Amnesty International to take notice and ensure proper facilities to the Kashmiri prisoners during custody and play role in their early and unconditional release.

The spokesman termed all the Kashmiri inmates as “prisoners of conscience” stating that all of them deserve a big salute for their patience and courage.
