LAHORE: Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed won big at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Awards 2017 ceremony here on Thursday, bagging the title of Outstanding Player of the Year. The ceremony, attended by both Pakistan and World XI players, honoured current and former Pakistan cricketers for their achievements. Former skipper Misbahul Haq, who was present at the ceremony, received the ‘Imtiaz Ahmed Spirit Award’ named after the former great who was part of Pakistan’s first Test team. PCB chairman Najam Sethi announced that awards of Rs10 million each for Younus Khan and Shahid Afridi would be donated to the Edhi Foundation since the two former cricketers did not attend the ceremony. Vowing to hold the awards every year, Sethi said that the awards should have been held every year since their inception but for some reason had not been organised recently.
