Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, Indian army, today, assaulted students and a school bus driver after hitting his vehicle in Islamabad district of south Kashmir.

Witnesses said that the driver of a local private school entered in a heated argument with the soldiers after his bus was hit by an army vehicle in Wanpoh area of the district.

They said that army men beat up the school driver, identified as Nazir Ahmad, following which students staged an anti-army protest.

Reports said that soldiers beat up the students and resorted to aerial firing to disperse the protesters.

Soon, forces deployed in the area resorted to teargas shelling to disperse the protesters.

A student, Sheezan of 10th standard, was shifted to District Hospital, Islamabad, where he received several stitches in his head.

Traffic came to a grinding halt because of the protests, reports said.
