MIRPUR (AJK): Mirpur police have rounded up at least 45 outlaws including motorcycle lifters, drug traffickers. Vagabonds, proclaimed offenders and thieves in the wake of an extensive crackdown to net the criminals from various parts of the district and recovered and confiscated the stolen property besides the huge quantity of the narcotics from their possession, police said.
Most of the arrest accused, it may be added, belonged to various parts of adjoining Punjab province including Lahore, Sialkot , Jehlum and Gujrat districts besides some of their local facilitators / accomplices. Senior Superintendent of Police Mirpur Raja Irfan Salim told this Correspondent here on Tuesday that a police party led by the City Inspector Muhammad Naseer, on a tip off, raided and recovered 500 bottles of illicit domestic-made liquor besides 90 litters of the same from the custody of the two arrested accused smuggled from Lahore to Mirpur. The arrested drug paddlers were identified as Innayat Ullah s/o Allah Dad, r/o Amin Park Lahore and Qasim Javed s/o Muhamamd Javed, r/o Jaada Mirpur city. Police also impounded Sazuki Pickup (GAT-3984) carrying the contraband, he added.
The SSP continued that police also unearthed and nabbed a total of 12 accused belonging to four bands of motorcycle lifters and recovered 50 stolen bikes of different makes including Honda, Zemco, Safari, Yamaha and Super Power from their custody. The arrested accused included Muhammad Naveed, Muhammad Razaq, Arslan, Muhammad Shoaib, Riasat Ali, Sagheer, Faraz, Ayaz, Nauman Ejaz Atif Mahmood, Shahnawaz and Ali Abbas belonging to various parts of Mirpur, Kotli, Muzaffarabad, Bhimbher , Gujjar Khan, Sarai Alamgeer and Sialkot districts. The accused had allegedly lifted the bikes from various parts of the city besides rest of the district, he underlined.
Raja Irfan Salim told that a special police team comprising city Inspector Muhammad Naseer, SHO Afzal pur Imran Ahmed and Additional SHO Police Station Thothal rounded up a total of 15 most wanted proclaimed offenders involved in heinous crimes of dacoities, murder, and burglaries. Three of the most wanted accused arrested by the police included Shakoor Akhter son of Akhter Chohan of Domaili Jhelum district, wanted to the police since last 27 years in a mureer case, Muhamamd Isbaq s/o Said Muhamamd of Khuiratta Kotli, wanted to the police since last 17 years and the accused Pervez Iqbal s/o Sahid Dad r/o Tehsil Sarayee Alamgeer, District Gujrat.
The SSP said that police also apprehended 16 accused involved in the one-wheeling besides other violators of the traffic rules. He said that the youth involved in one wheeling besides other motor bikers driving without helmets, would be strictly taken to task.
Irfan Salim said that the operation against the criminals including the anti-social elements is extensively continuing with prime and ultimate focus to make the district totally clean of such elements. “There would be no compromise on the safety and security of the lives and properties of the masses – since it is the top priority of the policeâ€, he declared.
