Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities detained senior resistance leaders, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik to prevent the march of the joint resistance leadership to the headquarters of India’s National Investigation Agency in Delhi, today.
The joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik had announced to court arrest at the NIA headquarters in protest against its cruel policies regarding the people of Kashmir. Indian police arrested Muhammad Yasin Malik around midnight, yesterday, from his residence and lodged him at Central Jail in Srinagar while Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq were already under house detention. The puppet authorities imposed restrictions in Srinagar to stop people from holding anti-India demonstrations over the arrest of Hurriyat leaders and the terror unleashed by the NIA against the Kashmiris.
The joint resistance leadership in a statement strongly condemned the arrest of Muhammad Yasin Malik and house arrest of Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. It also denounced the house arrest of human rights activist, Syed Abdur Rehman Gilani, by Delhi police who according to the police was presumably coming to the airport to receive the resistance leaders. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a tweet message said that the puppet authorities detained the resistance leaders to stop them from exposing the NIA drama. Scores of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front leaders and activists staged a protest in Aabi Guzar area of Srinagar against the detention of joint resistance leadership.
Meanwhile, Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred one Kashmiri youth during a violent siege and search operation in Reban area of Sopore, today. The youth, Shahid Ahmad Sheikh, was a commander of Hizbul Mujahideen. The troops also razed to ground a residential house in the area. People held massive demonstrations in different areas of Sopore against the killing of the youth and military operation by the troops. Indian police and troops used brute force to disperse the protesters, triggering clashes between the demonstrators and the forces’ personnel. The authorities suspended Internet services and announced closure of schools in Sopore town.
Indian forces’ personnel also launched massive cordon and search operations in more than 20 villages of Shopian and Kulgam districts. The students of Government Degree College Shopian came out of their institution and pelted stones at a nearby camp of Indian forces. The forces’ personnel fired teargas shells to disperse the protesting students.
On the other hand, complete shutdown will be observed in occupied Kashmir, tomorrow, against Indian Home Minister, Rajnath Singh’s visit to the territory. Call for the shutdown has been given by the joint resistance leadership. Rajnath Singh arrived in Srinagar, today, on a four-day visit.
