Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir along with elected members of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council held a meeting with Federal Minister Barjees Tahir, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan at his office on Tuesday.

The President, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Council said, “The current situation in Kashmir was horrendous”. He enumerated massive human rights violation being committed by the Indian occupation forces, including killings and punitive cordon and search operations. The President said that top Hurriyat leadership were being illegally detained on concocted charges and were being persecuted on a daily basis. He said, “The independence day of India was being marked as a black day throughout IOK and AJK.”

The Minister reaffirmed his full support to the people of Kashmir and Pakistan’s continued moral, diplomatic and political support in the just movement for their right to self determination.

The President emphasized the need for early preparation and passage of the AJK Council Budget in order to complete development projects in AJK in time. The members of the council also stressed on the need for early adoption of the budget.

The Minister assured them that the observations raised by the members of the AJK Council in regard to office space, lodging and council committees would be resolved soon.

The President and members thanked the Minister for his personal interest in the matters of the AJK Council and the commitment that the present Government has displayed in addressing their concerns.
