Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of leprosy fighter Dr. Ruth Pfau who passed away on Thursday.

The AJK premier said that Dr. Pfau had set an unprecedented example by serving humanity with compassion and selflessness. It is worth to mention here that Dr. Pfau, the founder of the National Leprosy Control Programme in Pakistan, was in charge of the Marie Adelaide Society of Pakistan (MASP), where leprosy patients are treated.

Dr Ruth Pfau, who led a battle against the stigmatised disease of leprosy, passed away early Thursday morning after a long illness. She was 87. She had been hospitalised at a private hospital in the metropolis for two weeks due to age-related illnesses and her condition had been worsening. Her funeral mass will be held at St Patrick’s Cathedral on August 19, said the obituary by MASP Chief Executive Mervyn Lobo.

Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider also expressed deep sorrow over the sad demise of ex member AJK Legislative Assembly Maj (r) Fazail. The prime minister while conveying his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family has prayed for the deceased soul.

Meanwhile the Prime Minister Raja Farooq has directed all his Cabinet members to report at State capital and resume official duties. The AJK PM also directed the concerned authorities to submit a report about those officials who have left their offices without formal permission. Expressing anguish over the unscheduled load shedding in the region he directed the Electricity Department to put an immediate end to the unannounced load shedding in the region. Seeking an explanation from the ED about unscheduled increase in load shedding, Khan said that the spell of load shedding should be reduced during extreme temperature

Pertinently, the prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan who is currently accompanying the former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif in his home coming rally has emerged as a popular leader among a long list of party loyalists who thronged the capital city to join Sharif’s cavalcade.

The AJK premier, on his arrival to Punjab House Islamabad, was accorded a warm welcome by federal ministers, whereas the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the occasion specially welcomed him. Later on, when the AJK premier joined the Sharif’s cavalcade, the enthusiastic PML-N activists, showered rose petals on his vehicle and a number of emotionally charged supporters of the party were seen kissing his hands while taking selfies. A large number of PML-N activists from Azad Kashmir joined the rally to express allegiance and love for their beloved leader.

Thanking the people of Azad Kashmir, the former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif said that the way people of AJK have expressed their love was highly appreciable and unforgettable.
