ISLAMABAD: (Parliament Times) President Mamnoon Hussain has emphasized the need for protecting the rights of marginalized segments of the society.

He was talking to Chairman National Commission for Human Rights Ali Nawaz Chowhan in Islamabad on Friday.

He called for establishing such institutions which may provide them protection and legal aid.

He stressed that institutions like National Commission for Human Rights are must for stability and strengthening of the society.

The President noted that due to prompt measures taken by the government the situation of human rights is better in Pakistan than most countries of the world.

Mamnoon Hussain called for effective legislation to discourage incidents of household violence and stressed the need for registering incidents of household violence as criminal cases.

The Chairman NCHR apprised the President about the steps taken by the Commission to promote and protect human right
