Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, India will deploy 130 additional companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for the Amarnath Yatra.

He annual yatra is scheduled to begin on June 29 and will end on August 7.

The CRPF spokesman in a media interview in Srinagar said that the additional companies would be brought from different states of India and would be deployed a week before the yatra begins. He said that the situation in occupied Kashmir, particularly in south Kashmir, was not conducive for the yatra.

Thousands of pilgrims from different Indian states visit occupied Kashmir for the annual pilgrimage to a cave in the territory. The yatra is conducted through two routes – Pahalgam in Islamabad district and Baltal in Ganderbal district.

The environmental experts are of the opinion that the huge number of pilgrims is adversely affecting the ecology of the area.
