Rawalpindi:(Parliament Times) The Punjab Government has failed to distribute the solar panels announced for the position holders students of Higher Secondary Schools in Rawalpindi Division as reward even after lapse of two years.The solar panels were announced for the position holders in annual examinations of Rawalpindi Education institutions under the Chief Minister Punjab Ajala Scheme for 2015 and 2016. According to sources, around 500 solar panels are still lying in the warehouse of school for the last two years, their condition is deteriorating day by day being dysfunctional. The value of solar panels is around Rs3.5 million. The solar panel can cater to the load of one fan and three bulbs, while the scheme was introduced when Punjab was facing long power outages. It is pertinent to mention here that the project was initiated three years back by CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, so that academic studies of students could not be affected.School headmaster Jamsheed took the stance that Energy Department Punjab has prepared a strategy for distributing Solar panels, while 300 solar panels among 500 would be distributed among the position holders of Wafaq-ul-Maddaris located in Rawalpindi Division. The list has also been prepared, while the remaining 200 solar panels are still kept in the warehouse.
