ISLAMABAD: Japan will provide twenty four million dollars to Pakistan for Burhan-Islamabad transmission line.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Islamabad on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif said that the Japanese assistance in the energy sector will help improve reliability of the national grid. He pointed out that Japan has been one of the largest development partners of Pakistan for the last sixty two years. He said Pakistan values its assistance in different sectors including education, health, energy, disaster management and counter terrorism.

Khawaja Asif said the Japanese assistance in the energy sector has played an important role in socio economic development and capacity building of institutions.

Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Nobuo Kishi was also present on the occasion.
