It is unlikely that a senior Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official will be removed from a tribunal investigating Pakistan Super League spot-fixing allegations against cricketers Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan, sources within the PCB told the media, on Tuesday.
Latif, in a letter to the PCB last week, had agreed to appear before a May 2 meeting of the tribunal but expressed concerns over the involvement of the PCB’s Vigilance and Security Department Senior General Manager Muhammad Azam Khan in the investigation, accusing Khan of “levelling false charges” against him and “misrepresenting facts”.
Latif had also alleged that Khan had “twisted the facts” in a notice of demand issued to the cricketer on April 28 ordering him to appear before the vigilance board on May 2.
However, the PCB had earlier rejected Khalid Latif’s letter calling it “frivolous, baseless, and false”.
According to the PCB source, the board is not likely to sideline Khan from the investigation based on Latif’s concerns, considering the cricketer himself is facing the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit for his alleged involvement in spot-fixing.
In today’s meeting with the PCB tribunal, Latif was given a list of questions which he must submit a reply to by May 5.
