FAISALABAD : The death toll in Faisalabad from chickenpox rose to 14 on Monday.

The toll escalated after five-year-old Amber lost her life to the disease in Allied hospital.

Four are still under treatment in the hospital’s isolation ward.

At least 59 people have died from chickenpox in the current year. Vaccine present in Allied hospital against the disease is available only for doctors and staff but not for the patients.

Chickenpox virus usually lasts for six to seven days. The public remains ignorant of the disease as no awareness campaign has been launched by the administration.

It is a viral disease and has created immense fear among the people.

However; no precautionary steps have yet been taken by the government in this regard.
