KARACHI: Investigators have identified two facilitators involved in the deadly bombing in Sehwan which martyred 90 devotees at the shrine of sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in February, police said.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi on Friday, Additional Inspector-General Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Sanaullah Abbasi told reporters that the facilitators were identified through CCTV footage from the days following up to the attack, which also wounded more than 300 devotees.

Abbasi played video footage for reporters showing the suspected facilitators speaking to the suicide bomber at the shrine on February 15, a day before the deadly bombing.

He said the facilitators and the bomber spent around an hour at the shrine that day.

The CTD official said the suspects had carried out reconnaissance of the area to facilitate the horrific terrorist attack, which took place when devotees had gathered inside the premises of the shrine to participate in a dhamaal and prayers.

Photographs captured from CCTV footage have been sent to NADRA for further identification of the suspects, he said, adding that a Rs5 million reward has been set for their arrest.
