Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, APHC General Secretary the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabbir Ahmad Shah has said that despite the expansionist and anti-Kashmir agenda of the Indian government, the freedom movement will continue till it reaches its logical conclusion.Shabbir Ahmad Shah, who is under house arrest in Srinagar, in a statement said that tyranny and oppression could not deter the Kashmiris from carrying on their freedom struggle. He said that Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, had got people’s mandate and he should fulfill the promises of his predecessors and resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute so that the permanent peace could be established in the region.
“If the Indian Prime Minister is really concerned about his people and their well-being, he should find a just solution to the Kashmir dispute through dialogue between all the stakeholders,” he said.
“Tunnels and roads cannot lure us,” Shabbir Shah said while referring to the Chenani-Nashri tunnel to be inaugurated by Narendra Modi in Jammu region, tomorrow. Terming the implementation of UN resolutions or holding of tripartite dialogue viable solution to the settlement of Kashmir dispute, Shabbir Shah said such move will not make anyone winner or loser but is the best way to resolve the dispute. The APHC leader said that Kashmir dispute was an unfinished agenda of partition of Indian subcontinent and the European countries particularly the UK, which was responsible for the creation of the dispute, should play role in its resolution. He said that referendums had been held in various parts of the world but the world community’s unsympathetic attitude towards Kashmir made it clear that it was not concerned about the plight of people of regions having Muslim majority. The DFP Chairman asked the UN Secretary General why he is incognizant towards the situation in Kashmir which is under forcible occupation for last 70 years. “The small, weak and subjugated nations of the world are losing faith in the UN due to such cold approach of the world body,” he said.Terming Pakistan as well-wisher, he expressed the hope that the country would continue its moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmir cause.
Reiterating his election boycott appeal, Shabbir Shah said, “We have to teach a befitting lesson to New Delhi and its collaborators. People should understand that those begging for votes are the same who killed our children in 2008, 2010 and 2016 and are mulling to bring more forces and weapons from New Delhi. The world is keenly watching us and this is a testing time for us.”
