Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) The Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan has appealed to international community to take serious notice of Indian atrocities on the people of Kashmir struggling for right to self determination.
Talking to high-level delegation of the Organisation of Islamic Countries’ (OIC) Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) led by Med S K Kaggwa, Prime Minister highlighted the grave human rights violations of the people of held Kashmir by Indian occupation forces which had intensified since July 2016.
Citing a recent report on Human Rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir by Indian Army and its paramilitary forces, he said 97,274 innocent Kashmiri have been killed from 1989 to June 30, 2016.including 6,969 custodial killings, 117,345 arrests, destruction, and razing of 105,861 houses and other physical structures in the use of the community as a whole. The brutal security forces have orphaned over 107, 351 children, widowed 22,728 women and gang raped 9,920 women. He condemned the reprehensible Indian practice of using live ammunition and pellet guns as a result hundreds of Kashmiris have been killed, 20,000 injured and scores of people, including children, have been blinded.
The PM said imposition of curfew in held Kashmir has made the lives of people miserable. The Indian government has created a deliberate shortage of essential food supplies, medicines, children food, petroleum products and other basic amenities, he added. He said children are being denied their basic right to education as a number of schools have been burnt and shut down. “Hurriyat leadership either remains imprisoned or under house arrest. People are barred from offering Friday prayers in a blatant violation of religious freedom,†he added.
The Prime Minister hoped that the visit would provide an opportunity to the IPHRC delegation to gain a better understanding of the Kashmir dispute and witness firsthand the plight of the Kashmiri refugees who had migrated to AJK to escape the Indian atrocities. “Indian denial of allowing the UN’s fact finding mission and IPHRC to visit held Kashmir is regrettable. Pakistan, in contrast, welcomes both.â€
Raja Farooq Haider appreciated the continued support of the OIC for the struggle of the Kashmiri people and urged the IPHRC delegation to highlight the human rights violations in held Kashmir and sensitise the international community about the human rights violations of the Kashmiris by the Indian forces.mThe IPHRC delegation expressed serious concern over the reports of grave human rights violations in Indian-held Kashmir. They regretted that India did not respond to the request for a fact-finding mission to visit held Kashmir to assess on ground human rights situation.
The other members of the delegation included Rashidin Hamidul Bashi(Oman), Dr. Rehana Binte Abdullah(Malaysia), Dr. Argon Argil(Turkey), Dr. Omun Abu Abbass (Cameron), Professor Dr. Saleh Bin Muhammad Khatluf (Saudi Arabia) and the spokesperson Marghob Bhut and Saqlain Javed. Meanwhile chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board Siddique ul Farooq called on prime minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan here on Wednesday and discussed with him the present human rights situation in Occupied Kashmir. Both the leaders also exchanged views on issues of bilateral interests.
Earlier talking to 43 members’ delegation from National Defence University, the prime minister said that State of Jammu and Kashmir was not part of India historically and we don’t recognise the puppet government of Srinagar it’s not representative government of the people. The people of Occupied Kashmir are engaged in decisive war of freedom against India. Additional chief secretary (development) Syed Asif Shah briefed the delegation regarding State economic development while additional chief secretary (general) Farhat Ali Mir talked about government system in AJK.
