Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan on Tuesday called upon Ulema to promote religious harmony, brotherhood and tolerance in society in line with the real teachings of Islam.
He was addressing a religious conference organized by Federal Ministry for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony here on Tuesday.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf chaired the conference, Chairman Evacuee Property government of Pakistan Sadique ul Farooq, member AJK Legislative Assembly Syed Ali Raza Bukhari and Federal Secretary for Religious Affairs Nasir Hussain Gillani also addressed the conference.
Raja Farooq Haider said AJK is blessed with complete religious harmony as the state has strong traditions of love, tolerance and peace since centuries. He said the government had taken effective measures for maintaining religious harmony in this regard. He said religious elders and scholars had a pivotal role on this front. Prime Minister said every citizen had to strive to establish peace in the society.
He said that every citizen wanted terrorism to be eradicated. The prime minister said those involved in shedding the blood of the innocent deserved exemplary punishments. He said victory in the war against terrorism would secure the future of the nation. The prime minister said the implementation of the National Action Plan against terrorism had been yielding positive results. He said effective measures had been taken under the plan in the AJK as well.
He said the ongoing Raddul Fassad operation in the country was continuing successfully. He said the armed forces had broken the back of anti-state elements. He said the nation was destined to triumph in its war against terrorism.
Addressing the conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan said that interfaith harmony is the dire need of the time to eliminate extremism and terrorism. He said durable peace in South Asia depends on the religious harmony which is the message of Pakistan.He said that long-term planning is required to eradicate the menace of extremism. He said through interfaith harmony, dialogue and message of peace, all longstanding issues like Kashmir and Palestine can be resolved. Speaking on occasion Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf has said the government is committed to wipe out terrorism and extremism through successful operations Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fassad.
He said prime objective of the conference is to give opportunity to Ulema, scholars and religious entities of all religions to interact with each other in order to promote interfaith harmony.
He urged religious scholars and opinion leaders to play their proactive role in spreading message of peace and harmony in the society.
Meanwhile addressing the inaugurating ceremony of the 6th annual sports and culture festival at Muzaffarabad Medical College the prime minister said that extracurricular activities play an important role in the physical and mental growth of the young students. He said the government is taking steps for the provision of outdoor sports facilities along with indoor facilities. He said Medical is very noble profession and it’s modesty should be maintained.
He assured the students that all possible facilities would be provided in the medical college and all its issues would also be resolved. AJK minister for Health Dr Najeeb Naqi,member Legislative Assembly Dr.Bashir Mustafa and secretary Health Maj.Gen. Khalid Hussain, secretary Agriculture and Livestock Dr.Shehla Waqar,director general Health Dr.Bashir Choudhry and principal Jamshed Ali also addressed the ceremony.
