Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) AJK Prime Minister Raja Fartooq Haider Khan has taken serious exception of the plights of labourers and workers belonging to AJK currently stranded in Saudi Arabia.
In a letter addressed to Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Sadaruddin Shah Rashidi, Prime Minister brought in the notice of the minister sufferings of stranded Pakistani workers, who are presently living under lamentable conditions in different camps setup by their companies for past few months.
The workers are facing issues regarding their pending salaries and renewal of Iqamas (Residential permit) transfer of work permit, food and health.
The prime minister informed the minister that a group of such labourers belonging to AJK who were working in Redco company have complaint that ministry of overseas Pakistanis and human resources had taken some certain steps for providing them immediate relief but no official of embassy of Pakistan in KSA or ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has yet visited their camp and they are still languishing there in a very miserable condition.
Neither these Pakistanis have been paid their salaries for the last fifteen months nor have they been provided any financial assistance had AJK PM said in the letter. The iqamas of these workers have also not been renewed by the company due to which they are unable to move anywhere. The prime minister requested the ministry of overseas Pakistanis to address the grievances of the stranded labours by taking up their issue with a government of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as with embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh.
