KARACHI: 18 fishermen released from India were warmly received by the Provincial Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani after they reached Karachi Cantonment Station Friday.While talking to the press, the minister said: “The Sindh government will make efforts for the release of other fishermen imprisoned in Indian jails.”“Pakistani fishermen imprisoned in India will soon be reunited with their families,†he said adding that the government is making efforts for the welfare of the fishermen community. “A summary sent to the Government of Sindh, demanding for a Rs 10,000 stipend for fishermen imprisoned in India is in the last stages of approval,†Malkani stated.Provincial Secretary Ghulam Hussain, Director General Fisheries Ghulam Muhammad, Divisional Superintendent of Railways Tahir Nazir, DSP Railaway Robin Yamin, and Pakistan Fishermen Association Muhammad Baksh, Faisal Hassan were present on the occasion.
