KARACHI: The Rangers paramilitary force recovered a large cache of arm and ammunition during a raid on Friday from Karachi’s Azizabad area.

Acting on actionable intelligence the paramilitary force personnel conducted a raid at a house (H/no. 512) near the Khurshid Begum memorial hall. During the raid Rangers recovered and seized the weapons which were hidden behind a false wall in the store room.

The seized weapons include, 20 SMG rifles, 2 LMG rifles, 1 G3 rifle, 1 7mm rifle, 3 sniper rifles, 2 .22 bore pistols and over 10,000 rounds of various types of live ammunition.

Rangers’ sources claim the weapons were hidden by Muttahida Qaumi Movement London-chapter workers to be used in criminal activities in the metropolis.

Additional Inspector General of Sindh Police, Mushtaq Mahar also said the weapons belonged to people in London and South Africa and were to be used for disrupting the law and order situation of the city.

Earlier in October, acting on intelligence gathered from an under-custody suspect the police raided a house in Azizabad and recovered a large cache of NATO arms and ammunition that had been hidden in an underground tank in the house.
