MIRPUR: (Parliament Times) The Country Director International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) Ms. Ingrid Christensen has said that her organisation was determined to perform to ensure the implementation of labor laws besides ensuring the delivery of fair compensation to the labour in Pakistan including AJK in line with the law of the land.
She expressed these views while talking to President Azad Jammu Kashmir Chamber of Commerce Ch. Sohaib Saeed who called on her in her office in Islamabad Thursday, according to Secretary AJK CCI Shafique Chaudhry.
The AJKCCI Official said that the President of the chamber met International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) Country Director Ms. Ingrid Christensen and discussed her the matters of mutual interests related to the production of skilled and semi-skilled man power. Sohaib Saeed also stressed upon a productivity analysis of the labour in AJK and introduction of wage board for determination of minimum wage. He appreciated the apprenticeship programs being offered by Govt of Pakistan under Prime Minister Youth Scheme and suggested a similar program for the semi skilled and skilled labour of Azad Kashmir.
The ILO Director shared with the AJK President the areas of work ILO is working in AJK. She spoke about implementation of labour laws will help Pakistan export while making sure the labour is fairly compensated for. ILO and AJK Chamber of Commerce will closely work in the future to create a balance between the labour and the private sector. A follow up meeting will take place by the end of this month at AJK Chamber of Commerce.
President Chamber enlightened the Country Director ILO regarding various labour issues faced by the Industry.Senior Program Officers Syed Saghir Bukhari and Syed Saad Hussain Gilani was also present on this occasion.
