ISLAMABAD : Pakistan defeated Nepal convincingly in the opening game of 13th edition of West Asia Baseball Cup at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad.

Defending champions Pakistan displayed wonderful skills and beaten Nepal by 16-1 in a one-sided encounter. Pakistan’s Zakir Afridi, Arslan Junior, Sameer and Arif Hussain hit two, whereas, Waseem Ali and Riaz Khan hit one home run each.

Mohsin, Faqeer Hussain, Rizwan, Fazal Khan, Majeed and Afridi scored one goal apiece.

The tournament was inaugurated by Federal Minister for Inter-provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada.

Talking to media on the event, Riaz Hussain once again said that those players who have done spot-fixing should be forgiven, as it is not a big crime and these type of mistakes can happen in cricket.

The minister also said that Pakistan Super League (PSL) final will be conducted in Lahore.
