LONDON: A man was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of encouraging terrorism after being produced from prison.

According to reports, the 24-year-old, who is currently on remand awaiting trial on a separate matter, was arrested on Wednesday, informed the London`s Metropolitan Police said. He was taken to a south London police station and later returned to prison after being bailed pending further inquiries. Police said the arrest relates to “support for Daesh”.

A Met police spokesman said: “The 24-year-old was produced from prison and arrested on suspicion of the offence contrary to Section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006.”

In a separate case, detectives were yesterday given more time to question five teenagers held on suspicion of planning to flee Britain to fight for Islamic State in Syria and Iraq.
