RAWALPINDI: The military media wing on Friday claimed to have killed more than 100 suspects in intelligence based operations carried out by security forces across the country including Punjab in the past 24 hours. “The intelligence agencies are making progress to unearth networks behind the recent terrorism incidents,” read a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations. In its statement, the military claimed that there were linkages of support for these incidents from across the border. “The border has been closed since last night due to security reasons. No cross border or unauthorised entry will be allowed into Pakistan from Afghanistan,” read the statement.The dead have been shifted to Karachi for identification. In Manghopir area, Rangers official launched a search operation after a tip-off, when militants fired on them. Eleven terrorits were killed in response while one official was injured. Law-enforcement agencies also carried out raids in Dera Ismail Khan, Peshawar, Bannu of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Orakzai agency of FATA. Two militants were killed in D.I. Khan allegedly involved in carrying out an overnight attack on a police van which killed four officials and injured five others. In Bannu, four militants were killed near Marwat canal within the jurisdiction of Bakakhel police station. In Peshawar three suspects were killed in the Reggi area on the outskirts of the city. SSP Operations said that the suspects refused to stop at checkpost and fired at the Police. Three were killed in the gunfire while explosive material was also recovered from their possession. In Quetta, the Frontier Constabulary killed one militant near Darakshan area on Sariab Road, while two officials were also injured. FC officials said that the suspect belonged to a proscribed outfit and was involved in several incidents of target killing. While in Punjab the counter-terrorism department carried out raid in Sargodha and killed two militants.
