Pakistan claimed that India was building a secret nuclear city, which will pose a direct threat to the entire region.Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria told while citing an investigative report of the Foreign Policy magazine that the secret nuclear city was being built in south India to produce thermonuclear weapons.Voicing serious concerns over the building of a secret nuclear city and development of intercontinental ballistic missiles by India, Pakistan said the Indian moves will disturb strategic balance in the region.Nafees Zakariya said that Indian defence buildup would endanger peace in the region and beyond and he urged the world community to take notice and check rapid Indian expansion in conventional and nuclear weapons. He said India was involved in acts of terrorism in Pakistan and Islamabad had provided evidence to the UN about its interference and India was funding terrorist activities in Pakistan. He said Pakistan itself is a victim of terror. People of Pakistan and their State institutions have been the target of terrorism. He said Pakistan remains open for dialogue with India and has taken a number initiatives but India did not respond positively. He said instead of resolving the issues amicably thorugh dialogue, India adopted a hostile attitude.Expressing grave concern over India’s arms buildup, the spokesperson said India completed its plan of nuclear trade recently with the commissioning of nuclear-capable submarine. With conventional weapons balance already disturbed, he cautioned that India’s nuclear weapons build-up had dangerous proportions to tip the strategic balance and endanger peace of the region and beyond. He stated that The perils of such an uncalled for defence build-up should be seen in the backdrop of Indian defence minister’s statement on reviewing the ‘nuclear no-first use’ and admission by the Indian army chief about their ‘Cold Start doctrine’, which confirmed Pakistan’s claims and justified our credible minimum nuclear deterrence. The spokesperson urged the international community to take note and check India’s rapid expansion in conventional and nuclear weapons. However, the spokesperson said despite India’s ‘hostile posture,’ Pakistan was committed to meaningful dialogue with India to resolve all outstanding issues, including Kashmir.India spends huge amount of its budget on defence despite being nuclear power and continues to threaten other states by such artifices. India pushes other countries to get into arms race by testing and developing weapons to maintain strategic equilibrium. India must see that because of these moves other states are compelled for same actions. It is spending huge amount of its defence budget without thinking what kind of bloodshed it is doing in Kashmir. Pakistan surely has all the potentials to maintain balance and develop arms but as a peace loving country it has no such desire of more arms and showing maximum restraints. Indian is violating safety measures of IAEA regarding nuclear arms. International community should take notice of massive Indian arms buildup and its thirst to become regional hegemon is threat for the peace and stability of the region.
