ABBOTTABAD :Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) secretary and former Olympian Shahbaz Ahmad Senior has said that national hockey team cannot win any international event for at least three years even if I appoint 19 coaches for the team.

Shahbaz Senior shared his thoughts in a media talk after closing ceremony of regional under-16 hockey championship in Abbottabad.

The former Olympian said that government’s lack of interest and selection of team without merit resulted in hockey’s decline in Pakistan.

Shahbaz Ahmad Senior said that we cannot compete with the world if we do not bring reforms from school level and select players on merit.

He also demanded the government to grant funds for hockey and take suitable steps to nourish this sport.
