Islamabad: (Parliament Times) AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan called on Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Abdullah Marzouk Al-Zahrani and discussed with him host of issues including situation prevail in Kashmir.
President told Ambassador Zahrani that hundreds of Kashmiri youths have been killed and 20,000 others wounded. Around one thousands young male and female have been completely or partially deprived of eye-sight since the present resistance started in the held valley in July 2016, he added.
He said that due to repressive measures and dawn to dusk curfew people in the occupied territory are facing severe economic hardships and extreme shortage of life saving drugs. The president told that keeping in view the grave situation in Kashmir, AJK government has setup a special fund to help widows, orphans and the families of those lost their lives in movement.
Terming people of Jammu and Kashmir as part of Muslim Ummah, President called upon the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Muslim countries to come forward and help them. He said government of Pakistan is playing an effective diplomatic role in highlighting the Kashmir issue at global level.
About the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, President Masood said extending political support to the oppressed people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, providing good governance and development of the liberated area are priorities of the present government. The president highly appreciated the role and generous support of the people and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia extended to the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir after the devastating earthquake of 2005.
He said construction of AJK university campus at Chattar Kallas Muzaffarabad, District Complex and important development projects were completed with the generous support of Saudi Arabia for which government and people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir are indebted to the government of our brotherly country.
