Islamabad: (Parliament Times) The Member British Parliament and shadow Foreign Minister of UK’s opposition Labour Party, Khalid Mehmood met AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan and discussed with him situation prevail in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

After meeting with British MP of Pakistani origin, President Sardar Masood Khan told newsmen that MP Khalid Mahmood is playing a significant role in highlight Kashmir issue both in UK and Europe. He told the British Member of Parliament that situation in Occupied Kashmir is still horrendous as occupied forces pickup the youths from their homes and refuse to acknowledge their fate and whereabouts and many of them killed extrajudicial. He said similarly most of the Hurriyat leaders are routinely arrested and put behind the bar without trial for long time.

He said UK is an important global country in terms of its support to human rights and we do hope it will raise voice in support of Kashmiris peoples’ fundamental rights including their right to self determination.

Expressing his satisfaction over Pakistan’s efforts for highlighting Kashmir issue at global level, President Masood said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif not only raise the issue of Jammu and Kashmir at United Nations but also dispatched his special envoys to 22 world capital. It was great success and we hope that there would be more efforts to this direction.

Referring to extensive use of pellet guns on peaceful protesters, he expressed his gratitude to UK government and others world countries for raising this issue with Indian government. AJK president urged the overseas Kashmiris to play their role by approaching media and other institutions that influence public opinion. Speaking on the occasion, MP Khalid Mahmood lauded the efforts of AJK President for effectively highlighting Kashmir issue and said that Kashmiris living in different parts of the world are confident that a competent committed like Sardar Masood Khan can pave the way for peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue.
