General Raheel Sharif is the most popular and powerful general amongst army chiefs of Pakistan army. His name is included in 10 most popular persons of the world. He is going to be retired on 26th November 2016. He has been appointed as Chief of Army Staff (COAS) on 26th November 2013. His meeting with President of Pakistan is going to be held on 25th November 2016. He has started his farewell visits to different garrisons of the large cities. General Raheel has started his job in Pakistan army since 2nd October 1976. He worked on different posts. He served as 15th Army Chief. The time when he has been appointed as COAS it was the most difficult time for Pakistan. The whole nation was suffering from terrorist attacks, massive killings of common people including women and children were a routine and security agencies were trying to control the said situation. War on terror was continued. General Raheel has taken strong steps against terrorism after taking responsibility of COAS. He put a new life in Pakistan Army and launched Operation “Zarb e Azab”. He spent his EIDS with soldiers and IDPs of North Waziristan. In his regime he visited and worked closely with soldiers fighting against terrorism. In this era the whole area of Wana and North Waziristan has been cleared from terrorist and terrorist attacks were reduced. Drone attacks were also reduced after strong steps been taken by Pakistan Army. These drone attacks were controlled by NATO which caused collateral damages and innocent people were also killed in these attacks. For the first time army courts started working and punishments were given to the captured terrorist was proclaimed. Terrorism has also reduced in the country. In Karachi, Law and Order situation has been improved. Law and Order situation in Karachi was not good since long time until Rangers has taken control of this city. As well as, General Raheel has established good relations with neighboring countries like Afghanistan, Iran, Russia and China. Even he has tried his best to reduce tension with India. In his regime Pakistan army and Pakistan navy have started war games with Russia and Iran respectively. The friendly ties between these countries reached a new horizon. Relations with U.S and western countries have also been improved. Long dreamed Gwadar Port came into working after the concrete efforts of Pakistan Army and the first convey has departed to China via Gawadar. This port was not working even after it has been constructed, due to depraved security situations of the country. Concluding more, General Raheel has fulfilled his responsibility heartedly and made Pakistan Army a proud institution. Due to his strong stance for terrorism, Law and order situation of the country is better now. In contrast with politicians and other, he is a king in the hearts of people of Pakistan.
