ISLAMABAD: (Parliament Times) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan Tuesday questioned sudden entry of a Qatari prince in the Panama Leaks case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family saying that it shows the government is not ready to face the courts.
Speaking to newsmen in Bani Gala on Tuesday, Khan slammed the government for presenting a letter by Qatar’s Prince Hamad Bin Jassim bin Jaber Al-Thani, which stated that Hussain Nawaz, son of PM Nawaz Sharif, had acquired the London flats via a business settlement with the Al-Thani family.
Al Thani, who became the foreign minister of Qatar at the age of 33 in 1990s and became its prime minister, was among the world’s top 140 politicians named by the Panama Papers and was also named by the TIME magazine as 100 most influential persons in the world in 2012 because of his huge wealth. He is among the top 29 billionaires named by FORBES who were also found in the Panama Papers.
“The sudden entry of a Qatari prince in the case shows that the government is not ready to face the courts,” he said, adding, “The prince will begin trembling over a single question, if he appears before the Supreme Court.”
The PTI chief noted that the three speeches Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif delivered on occasion with regard to the Panama Papers had no mention of Prince Hamad Bin Jasim.
Commenting on his recent visit to London, Imran Khan said that he had gone there to meet his sons, and not to acquire evidences pertaining to the Panama Leaks case.
Asked about his plans for marriage, the skipper said at present he was only focused on the Panama Leaks case.
