Rawalakot:(Parliament Times)____Â Commissioner Poonch Division, Sardar Zafar Mehmood Khan has taken serious notice of the substandard construction work of city development projects in Rawalakot and made it clear that ERRA, NESPAK and other related departments are bound to execute development projects according to specification and contractual obligations.Â
Addressing a meeting here, he said people have serious reservations on the flawed construction of bypass roads under city development projects and warned that practice of shifting blame on others would not be allowed to continue.
He directed the officials concerned to fulfill their responsibilities and complete the projects at the earliest so that projects could be handed over to the relevant departments.
He asserted that officers must make it sure that decisions are implemented in letter and adding that the President during his recent visit to Rawalakot expressed his displeasure over the substandard construction work in and around city. The responsibility of this defective construction lies with engineers, NESPAK and Chinese working on city development projects, he maintained. “This is unacceptable that the projects had not been completed despite elapsing several years. He asked the concerned to accelerate the remaining work without wasting time and monitoring system should be strengthened and made transparent†he strssed.
Briefing the meeting Executive Engineer Public Health pointed out that Project Director and engineers of ERRA in laying the network of water supply schemes had made technical mistakes as a result of which smooth water supply to the people of the area could not be ensured. Assistant Commissioner Rawalakot and other officers also pointed out concerns of the people on flawed strategy of ERRA and city development project which resulted into stashing away of billions of rupees from government exchequer. Deputy Commissioner Poonch suggested self reformation to avoid the public reaction on substandard construction.
