Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has strongly denounced the continued military siege of Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid terming the action as direct interference in the religious affairs of the Muslims. The occupation authorities continue to seal the grand mosque since the killing of popular youth leader, Burhan Wani, on July 8, this year, and have not allowed people to offer Juma prayers there for the last 18 consecutive weeks.
The leaders in a joint statement issued in Srinagar, today, said that India had curtailed and curbed not only political, social and individual freedom of Kashmiri people but their religious liberties were also denied and it was deplorable that the action was being carried out by those stooges of the oppressor who called themselves Muslims. They also announced postponement of the proposed march towards Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Monday on the request of Sikh community in view of their religious festival. They said, Kashmiri Muslims believe in the golden ethos of religious freedom and tranquility and age old strong social and communal fabric stands testimony to their rich and glorious past.Senior APHC leaders, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Farooq Ahmed Tawheedi and the Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Mazahmat in their statements in Srinagar also denounced the siege of the Jamia Masjid describing it frustration of the puppet authorities. Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir in a statement in Srinagar condemned the arrest of its leader, Muhammad Shaban, in Kulgam and vandalizing of the house of Qari Danish Malik in Aaloosa area of Bandipora. Meanwhile, normal life remained affected in the Kashmir Valley on the 127th consecutive day, today, due to complete shutdown against the civilian killings and other brutalities of Indian forces in the occupied territory. The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Social Peace Forum, Devinder Singh, addressing a function in Doda strongly denounced the reign of terror unleashed by Indian police and troops across the Kashmir Valley. The puppet authorities booked the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front leader, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, and a student under black law Public Safety Act, and shifted them from Srinagar Central Jail to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu. Media reports quoting official data said that 16-25 year-olds youth had been the worst victims of the brutalities of Indian forces’ personnel during the ongoing uprising.
They said that over 9,000 people had been injured in the in last 126 days and over 7,748 youngsters were belonging to the age group. The reports also said that 68.8 percent of the total victims were hit by pellets.
