Islamabad: (Parliament Times) A Nepalese delegation supported by United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the World Bank has visited Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority Headquarters on Wednesday. The delegation was led by official of UNOPS Project Ms Alexandra and comprising experts of disaster risk management and social protection of the World Bank, Mr. Ahsan Tehseen, officials of Nepal Economic Bureau, Civil Registration, demographers, engineers and the officials of Nepal’s Ministry of Finance.

On the arrival at ERRA Headquarters, Deputy Chairman ERRA, Brigadier Abu Bakar Bajwa welcomed the members of the delegation and said it is matter of great honour to receive the Nepalese delegation and expressed his hope that Pakistan and Nepal can learn from each other’s experiences.  UNOPS in collaboration with the World Bank is engaged in reconstruction process in Nepal after the earthquake that struck the country in April 2015.

The Nepal Earthquake was second biggest tragedy after the 2005 earthquake that parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and KPK. The ERRA started construction of residential units in rural areas of Azad Kashmir and KPK with the assistance from World Bank completed construction of over 600,000 residential units while UNOCHA was assigned to monitor and evaluate the quality of construction.  The Nepalese delegation shared experiences and problems faced after the earthquake and highly appreciated the efforts and performance of ERRA in reconstruction and rehabilitation of quake hit areas
