Brussels: Latest data collected from occupied Kashmir will be raised during programmes being arranged by the Kashmir Council EU in connection with upcoming Kashmir EU-Week at European Parliament in Brussels.The Kashmir EU-Week programmes comprising international conferences, seminars, debates, workshops, video casting of a documentary, photos and a handicraft exhibition on Kashmir would be held from November 7-11 at the EU Parliament.The report of facts and figures compiled by a human rights organisation based in Srinagar are about causalities including deaths and injured people especially victims of pellet guns in different areas of Srinagar and other cities and town of occupied Kashmir.The Chairman of Kashmir Council European Union (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed, who is chief organiser of the week-long events of “Kashmir EU-Weekâ€, in a media interview said, the 12-page report revealed that vast majority of the victims either killed or injured persons is under 30-year of age.The report also highlights the issue of censorship on media and suspension of mobile and internet services and other restrictions during the recent uprising in the occupied territory. According to the data, thousands of more troops have been deployed in occupied Kashmir to suppress the peaceful liberation movement.
The Kashmir EU-Week is being hosted by Sajjad Karim (MEP), Afzal Khan (MEP) and Friends of Kashmir Group. The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir (AJK) Raja Farooq Haider would participate as chief guest in the programme. Along with the Prime Minister, the Senior Minister of AJK, Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, would also attend the Kashmir EU-Week.The programme is being organised by KCEU with the collaboration of other Europe-based Kashmiri organisations and a large number of people especially members of EU Parliament, experts, intellectuals, human rights activists and scholars from Europe, US, Canada, Pakistan, AJK and occupied Kashmir would attend it. Ali Raza Syed said, creating awareness about the large scale human rights violations in occupied Kashmir is main objective of the programmes. According to him, the EU-Week is more important this year as Indian forces increased brutalities against peaceful protesters in the occupied territory. A large number of people have been killed, injured and blinded due to firing of bullets, pellets and teargas shells by Indian forces during the last four months.The report also highlights the issue of censorship on media and suspension of mobile and internet services and other restrictions during the recent uprising in the occupied territory
