Baloch was sitting in the passenger seat when the accident occurred in Karachi’s DHA Phase VIII area, her family confirmed.

“It is true that she passed away,” a family member said.

The family member further added that “she was travelling in thepassenger seat, and the car slid.”

Baloch, 20, was one of the finest strikers for Pakistan women’s footballteam. She represented the country at the South Asian FootballFederation Women Football Championship 2014  in Islamabad, whichwas the last international event that Pakistan women’s team competedin.

Earlier, Baloch became the first Pakistani woman to score a hat-trickabroad during her stint in Maldives. She also made the score sheet inPakistan’s 4-1 victory over Bhutan in 2014 SAFF Women’s Championship.

The 20-year-old played for the Balochistan United FC as a forward in thedomestic circuit.

“She represented Pakistan and was a role model for many girls. TodayShahlyla Baloch died in a car accident. What a shockingnews,” FootballPakistan.Com (FPDC) wrote on their Facebook page.

“All our condolences to her family,” it added.
