ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbassi has said Pakistan has embarked upon a major program to expand capacity of energy sector.
Talking to Chairman of Ansaldo Energia Company Giuseppe Zampini in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said that smaller projects near grid stations are being conceived to overcome transmission challenges.
The Prime Minister said that the government is also actively considering replacement of low efficiency furnace oil based plants with high efficiency plants based on cheaper fuels, which will open up new avenues for companies like Ansaldo Energia to participate in the new projects.
The chairman of Ansaldo Energia said that Pakistan is offering immense opportunities in energy sector.
