Islamabad: (PR) Federal Secretary General Ubaid Qureshi has said that Youth Parliament has successfully completed Pakistan’s 1st biggest social movement “Jadeed Pakistan Tehrik” based on awareness regarding local body’s elections. This campaign started in the end of December 2016 and different seminars were held across the 4 provinces and cities across Pakistan. This project vowed to tell the youth what their role in a local body election is. Youth Parliament had already completed a similar project known as “City thinker Forum”. In the Seminars, local electable of the city including the administrators, counselors, MPAs and Secretaries were invited as guests for cross talk and questions regarding their constitutional local body’s problems. He said, “In the upcoming month we are going to start Jadeed Pakistan Phase 2, inaugural ceremony will be held in Karachi on 5th April in which Governor Sindh will be the Chief Guest. In this mega event major focus will be on the corporate sector, providing an opportunity for the youth to interact with different companies”. “We are going to extend this upto Kashmir, recent event “Jadeed Kotli” was a part of this project. On top of that, Youth Parliament is planning other projects including “Youth Internship Program” and “Award of Creativity and Innovation” as well. Youth Internship Program consists of two phases, Phase-I is for Youth Activists while Phase-II is for the Educational institutions. Phase one involves a 7 days training program related to UNSDGs and Legislative awareness, while second phase is treated as the project assignment for that activists who were involved in the first phase . It is a modern concept that emulates the first world, youth activists learn a lot and subsequently educate others as well”.
Ubaid said that young generation of Pakistan has a high potential and matchless talent. “I see highly talented young people because we don’t have a proper platform neither do we have the institutions which could groom their skills, our young generation delivers the best it can with the limited resources it has without any kind of training”, he said. On the occasion of International Day of Creativity and Innovation, he said that YP is going to celebrate this day, and invite stake holders to acknowledge their effort.
“Youth must play a vital role towards the betterment of society through their skills, talent and hard work. Young generation of Pakistan is very creative and innovative and they must work hard for the positive development of Pakistan, promoting peace and cultural harmony”, he added.
