KARACHI : Water supply for Punjab and Sindh have increased sharply from last year as inflows are up due to melting of ice and some rain fall in northern parts.
Indus River System Authority (IRAS) spokesman said that indents have increased this year, from May 1, the supply in Punjab would be 90,000 cusecs, Sindh 80,000 cusecs, Balochistan 6,000 cusecs and Khyber Pakhtunkwa 3,100 cusecs. The flows have been higher compared to last year.
The spokesman further said that Balochistan is getting water for Khareef season for the first time.
During last season, Punjab and Sindh were receiving water supply of around 75,000 and 65,000 cusecs respectively.
